About

Our Mission

The mission of the Hillyard Senior Center is to create a philosophy and provide an environment that encourages seniors to keep active in mind, body, and spirit; to meet other friends of like mind; to make new friends; to share interests with others and enjoy living their life to the fullest!

Programs are offered to challenge and stimulate seniors, promote good mental and physical health, and give a sense of well-being and enthusiasm for life!

Our Story

The Hillyard Senior Center currently serves as a full-service Senior Recreational Activity Center for older adults in the Northeast Community Center in Hillyard. We have been in operation since 1973 and have been a tenant of the Northeast Community Center since the building was established in 1982.

We offer a full spectrum of activities, trips, classes, special events, fundraisers, fitness and health care components, arts and education, and a nutrition program. We serve approximately 500 members and many other drop-in participants who utilize the facility and our services.

Our clientele consists mostly of moderate to low-income seniors, mainly seventy to ninety years of age. Most of our programs operate Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 3:30PM, but we also offer many day trips, overnight trips, and special events during evening and weekend hours.
