All Aboard for a Scenic Northwest Getaway
Join us for a thoughtfully planned Mt. Hood Railroad & Hood River Overnight Trip, designed with senior comfort in mind and filled with beautiful scenery, rich history, and memorable experiences throughout the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood region.
This relaxed 2-night / 3-day adventure offers a perfect blend of scenic travel, cultural attractions, and time to explore at your own pace.

Two nights of waterfront lodging at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn
Scenic travel through the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood Scenic Byways

Trip Pace & Participation
This trip is paced with senior comfort in mind and includes staff support with transportation, hotel check-ins, and assistance on and off the bus. Participants should be able to walk independently and comfortably, as some activities involve light walking and time to explore at one’s own pace. Staff may not be present with the group at all times during individual activities.

Trip Cost
$100 deposit to reserve your seat
Members: $500
Non-members: $525
Space is limited, and a minimum number of participants is required for the trip to operate.
Rooming & Accessibility
When reserving your seat, please let staff know if you will be rooming with another member and splitting the cost, and if you require any special room accommodations (such as ADA-accessible rooms). This helps us prepare the hotel rooming list and ensures a smooth check-in on arrival day.
How to Register
To reserve your spot, please stop by the Hillyard Senior Center office or call during business hours. If you plan to use trip credit, please let staff know at the time of registration.
Additional trip details and reminders will be reviewed at the itinerary meeting and provided again prior to departure.

We know planning a trip can come with lots of questions — especially when you’re joining a group adventure. Here are some of the most common questions we get about our day trips and overnight tours. If you still need more details, just give us a call or stop by the front desk — we’re happy to help.
Registration for day trips opens on the first Tuesday of each month at the Senior Center. Members may sign up in person when the office opens, or by phone if unable to attend in person. Overnight tours have separate sign-ups — if you’re on our Overnight Mailing List, you’ll receive early notice with registration details and deadlines.
No! All of our trips are open to both members and non-members, but members receive early registration, discounted pricing, and priority seating. Becoming a member is easy and helps support all the programs at Hillyard Senior Center.
Cancellations should be made as soon as possible by calling the Senior Center. Refunds depend on the type of trip and any non-refundable costs we’ve already incurred. Details are outlined in our Trip & Tour Policy, available at the front desk or by request.
We accept cash, or check for all day trips and overnight tours. We do accept Credit/Debit Cards with a small fee. Payments can be made at the front desk during office hours. For overnight tours, deposits may be required to hold your spot, with final balances due by the posted deadline. Please note that some trips are non-refundable once tickets or lodging are secured.
