Traveling is one of the things we like to do best!  Sarah, our very creative Activity and Travel Coordinator makes getting out and on the road a great time! Check out some of the fun and exciting places that we have recently visited!  And... best of all, Hillyard Senior Center offers you so many new and exciting day and overnight trips and tours for your traveling pleasure each and every month! There's always something to see and do! Casino Trip to Two Rivers
Thursday, September 9th                                          $12

Come along for a fun filled day on the beautiful shores of Lake Roosevelt, where you can play a wide variety of casino games! We’ll join a group of seniors from Corbin Senior Activity Center and travel by means of a Silver Eagle bus liner up to the Two Rivers casino. Price is for Transportation only.  HSC pickup at 8:30am. No Home Pick-Ups.

Little Spokane Canoe Trip

Friday, September 10th                                         $20

 This adventure is for the active senior who enjoys the water and spectacular outdoor scenery. We will have the help of Spokane Parks and Recreation staff to guide us down a scenic portion of the Little Spokane River (about a 2-hr trip) Before we get into our canoes we’ll have a nice picnic lunch together (bring your own)  Previous canoe experience is not necessary, but all participants must be able to swim. Spaces are limited, hurry in to sign-up! Trip includes: Transportation, Guides, and Equipment. HSC pick-up is11:30am, Home pick-ups before.


Breakfast Out

Monday, September 13th                                      $8

 Join your Director and friends from the HSC for a delicious breakfast at Harvest Moon in Rockford. Enjoy the drive, and have breakfast at a local favorite. Remember breakfast is on your own. Hurry this trip fills quickly! Trip price includes: Transportation, and Escort. HSC Pick-up is at 9:30am, and Home pick-ups afterwards.


Senior Day at the Spokane Interstate Fair

Tuesday, September 14th                                      $5

 September 14th is senior day at the fairgrounds! The fair is a great event to enjoy annually, there are always new things to see, eat, hear, ride, and the possibilities of fun are endless. Come along with us to enjoy the fair with your HSC friends. Trip price includes: Transportation, Admission, and Escort. HSC Pick-up is at 10:30am, and Home pick-ups afterwards.


Odessa
Deutchesfest

Saturday, September 18th                                      $20

Experience fun and excitement when you listen to authentic German music and taste the German food (on your own). We’ll spend the day in Odessa to enjoy all the events: arts & crafts, exhibits, music, and the Bier Gartner. Trip price includes: Transportation, and Escort. HSC pick-up at 8:00am and Home pick-ups before.


Spokane River Cruise at Templin’s Resort

Sunday, September 19th                                        $28

Beginning in Post Falls, cruise the Spokane River aboard the old world charm of the River Queen sternwheeler. Enjoy the first colors of autumn along the riverbank, the wildlife, the extravagant homes, and much more! Inside seating will be available on this boat. We’ll eat lunch prior to our cruise (on your own) Trip price includes: Transportation, Cruise, and Escort. HSC pickup is at 12:00pm and Home pickups before.


Old Orchard Theatre, Greenbluff

Thursday, September 23rd                                   $20          

It’s always an entertaining time to watch the Old Orchard Players at the Greenbluff Grange Hall. They have put together a special production this year titled “Romeo & Harriet” a hilarious Shakespeare musical spoof. Please sign up early for this trip; they’ve requested an accurate count by September 17th. Trip price includes:  Transportation, Escort and Admission.  HSC pick-up at 5:45pm and Home pick-ups before.


Cirque Du Soleil Presents: Alegria

Friday, September 24th                                         $48

Let's experience the magic of the Cirque Du Soleil perfomance  when the show comes to town for five nights only!  Alegria is performed by the acrobats of Cirque Du Soleil, the story is part ballet, part daring physical feats, and part fairy tale. You can expect to see kings, fools minstrels, beggars, old aristocrats, clowns, and children in this fairy tale. Join us to enjoy the show with fellow HSC members and our Sinto Senior Center friends. Please register early to ensure seats. Transportation, Escort and Admission. HSC pickup is at 2:00PM and Home Pickup afterwards.


Rasberry Ridge Luncheon

Wednesday, September 29th                                $22

Step back in time to the 1880’s when you see the unique park like area overlooking Deep Creek Canyon. Tour the restored log cabin that houses a swinging log bed. After our tour, we will enjoy a great bbq luncheon and special singing entertainment by Doug and Candy Gintz. Trip price includes: Transportation, Luncheon, and Escort. HSC pickup is at 10:30am and Home pickups afterwards.

Trip & Tour Policies:

·         Our travel policy will incorporate call in, mail in, and walk in reservations. The center will utilize a first pay, first go,  method for registration. Phone and walk in reservations DO NOT guarantee a spot on a trip. Participants who call in and request to be signed up on a trip but are unpaid are simply considered to be on an interest list. When participant’s money has been received and a receipt has been issued, then and only then is a person considered to be a registered participant of the trip and their spot guaranteed.

·          Interest sign ups and paid registration will be done at the Hillyard Senior Center office (4001 N. Cook 482-0803). Monthly sign up for all trips will be taken at 8:30 am on the 1st working day following the receipt of the newsletter. (sorry we cannot control the order in which everyone receives their mail).

·         Participants living outside of the normal van pickup boundaries (North to Weile, East to Freya, West to Division, and South to Indiana) will be considered for a trip home pick-up on a individual basis depending on the trip’s destination.

·         Non members of the Hillyard Senior Center will be allowed to participate in one trip prior to becoming a member.

·         Hillyard Senior Center will issue a credit for a trip cancellation, if a cancellation is made at least 5 working days prior to the trip, the credit may be used for a trip at a later date. Note: Non-refundable deposits may apply to overnight trips & tours.

·         Individuals requesting a home pick-up and return delivery for a travel trip excursion should add an additional $3.00 to the advertised price of the trip for which they are signing up for.

·       NOTE:  Registration and participation in a travel trip is considered to be a voluntary acceptance of liability, and participants shall not hold HSC, it's staff, or management responsible for any participants own negligence.
